We often celebrate the importance of our community at St Nicholas’ School, but this is largely a result of the efforts made by staff and parents to create a caring and nurturing environment.

Of utmost importance to this is the pastoral wellbeing of the children. We manage to achieve this in a wide range of ways, ensuring that each child feels comfortable and confident in our School. Pupils have class teachers to whom they build strong positive relationships with, and PSHE content encourages one conversations when issues arise.
However, the nature and size of our School means that we can genuinely say that every child knows every teacher; class teacher and subject specialists, and this allows pupils to be comfortable discussing matters with any adult. This means that whenever a child is in need of support, it is readily available to them.
Our House system offers the chance for children to work collaboratively across age groups. Likewise, we structure our break and lunch times so that older pupils are able to interact with younger children. This provides positive role models to our younger pupils, and importantly gives older members of the School an opportunity to be responsible. All of our children interact incredibly positively, but it is a wonderful example to see our Year 6 pupils reading to our Reception children in the Library at breaktime, emphasizing the family feel that we enjoy at St Nicholas’.
